AviGa™ Bio HP70 Receives COSMOS Approval by Ecocert
Avid Organics' bio-based glycolic acid now approved for use in COSMOS-certified cosmetic formulations, adding to its existing USDA Certified Biobased designation
VADODARA, India, June 12, 2026 - Avid Organics Pvt. Ltd., a leading Indian manufacturer and exporter of high-purity specialty chemicals, today announced that AviGa™ Bio HP70, its bio-based 70% glycolic acid for personal care applications, has been approved by Ecocert Greenlife SAS as a raw material conforming to the COSMOS v4 standard.
The conformity attestation, issued on June 11, 2026, confirms that AviGa™ Bio HP70 may be used as an ingredient in finished cosmetic products seeking COSMOS certification, the leading international standard for natural and organic cosmetics. The raw material has additionally been assessed as compliant with the COSMOS "without animal origin" requirement, supporting brands with vegan-positioned product lines.
AviGa™ Bio HP70 is the world's first commercial scale bio-based glycolic acid, produced from a plant-derived feedstock. For more than three decades, high-purity glycolic acid technology has remained fundamentally unchanged and petroleum-derived. The COSMOS approval now adds to the product's existing USDA Certified Biobased Product Label, giving formulators independent third-party verification across two leading frameworks.
Under COSMOS, AviGa™ Bio HP70 is classified as a chemically processed agro-ingredient and serves three key functions in cosmetic formulations: skin conditioning, exfoliation and pH adjustment. Glycolic acid, the smallest alpha-hydroxy acid, is widely used by formulators in exfoliating and skin-renewal products, where ingredient provenance and certification readiness are increasingly decisive purchasing criteria.
